Positive Healing For Total Wellness
by Darlene Zagata
Health and well-being is more than
just physical health or mental health. Physical, mental and spiritual well-being are all interconnected.
You need to treat the whole being in order to experience total wellness.
Most physical symptoms are outer manifestations of an inner imbalance. When we are at odds spiritually
or mentally with ourselves and our environment this shows itself in our physical health.
These imbalances need an outlet which become disease or illness in our physical being. We must treat
more than just the physical symptoms but also the underlying inner imbalance which is at the root
of the problem. This can be done with forms of meditation which focus on deep breathing and visualization
exercises.
I once read a story about a twelve year old boy who was ill. The boy was asked what
video games he liked. He replied that the game Pac Man was one of his favorites. The therapist told
the boy to envis! ion the little pac man character running through his body eating up the bad
cells one by one. The boy did this faithfully everyday. Within a couple of months, the boy's illness
was in remission.
There are many cases like this where healing seemed to be facilitated by prayer or visualization
techniques. Health comes from within so it is only normal to believe that healing can be done from
within also. Remember that disease begins on an inner level before it appears on the outside.
You do have control over your body whether you realize it or not. You are not just the body or the
mind. You are spirit also. You must nourish the spirit as well as the mind and body in order to
have complete and total wellness. Each component is very much a part which comprises the whole.
Body, mind and spirit must be kept in balance to remain in a state of health and well-being.
Our attitude does affect our health. Love and compassion quiet the mind and body. When the mind
and body are in a state of quiet this facilitates healing. Keep in mind that love is a very powerful
healing force. Learn to heal your entire being from within.
Meditate daily. Find a comfortable place to sit where you won't be disturbed. Close your eyes. Breathe
normally. Focus on your breathing. If your mind wanders, which it more than likely will, this is
normal, just try to bring your focus back to your breath. Try to meditate for at least fifteen minutes
each day.
Do this to help remain in a state of health, wellness and balance. If you do have any particular
illness or disease you may want to try a visualization technique such as the one described earlier
during your meditation period.
You do have the ability to heal your whole being. Of course, if you are suffering from any physical
illness, these tec! hniques are not meant to substitute for any professional health care. If you
need to see a physician then please do so. The methods discussed here are meant to aid you along
the path to mental, spiritual and physical well-being. May you be blessed along your journey.
